The winter storm finally hit the High Country and hit it hard.
First with snow and then with sleet, rain and snow. Various businesses were closed along with
classes at Watauga High school and Appalachian State. This scene is in front of the Wilco at the
corner of Highway 421 and 194. The water collected here and cars just splashed on through heading in

Baron Fenwick, Ledah Finck and Maura Shawn Scanlin traveled to
Charlotte this past Saturday, Jan. 23, to compete in the 2010 Charlotte
Symphony Young Artists Competition on the campus of Queens University,
and all came home with top awards. More ››
