Meetings

High Country MOPS (Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers) is a group that exists to support the needs of mothers of children ages birth through kindergarten.  We meet through May on the first and third Thursdays from 9:30 - 12:00 at Mt. The Watauga American Legion Post # 130 and Auxiliary will meet Friday, November 6, 2009 at 5:30 P. M. with a Covered-Dish meal in Honor of Veterans Day.  We will also have 2 guest speakers joining us.  All Watauga Veterans and their spouse are welcome.  Please plan to attend!

Baha’i Devotional Meeting There will be a Baha’i devotional meeting at 10 am in Stony Fork on Sunday November 8.   Following the devotional there will be a study class titled: “Prisoners of Conscience - the role of the Iranian Baha’is in the current struggle for human rights in Iran.”   All are welcome.   For more information and directions call 268 2191.

The Watauga NCCB is a local support groupe for the blind and visually impaired. We meet on the second Friday of each month at 10 AM until 12 PM at Grace Lutheran Church And we need Volunteers to help with Transportation. For more information call 828 297 5346

WATAUGA WOODCARVERS CLUB: Beginner or experienced. Come learn and share your wood carving experience, talent and techniques. We meet every Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Cove Creek Community Center, 1081 Old U.S. Hwy. 421, Sugar Grove. Our objective is to teach, carve and learn together. High Country NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Support Group meets the first Monday of the month at the Lois Harrill Senior Center, 132 Poplar Grove Connector at 7 p.m. NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with mental illness and their families. Meetings are open to the public and are educational in nature featuring a wide range of speakers addressing a variety of topics related to mental health and wellness. Civil Air Patrol Integrity, volunteer service, excellence, respect. There are the core values of the Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Youth, ages 12-18 can join our cadet program and adults are needed as senior members. Squadrom meetings are every Thursday at 6 p.m. in the First Baptist Church on King Street in Boone.
